Faith, Hope and Charity

An age old Finnish tradition now enjoyed by people everywhere.

The symbols of Faith, Hope and Charity, the anchor, cross and heart have been a
tradition in Pietarsaari (aka Jakobstad) for hundreds of years. The
magic and message of these symbols were wildly popular from the 1600's
to the modern day. They can be found in a variety of furniture, seals
and pictures and were commonly given as marriage presents, birthday
presents , and New Years wishes. Exactly when the age old tradition
began is unknown, but the earliest examples today are seen carved or
painted on sailors trunks as Pietarsaari has a long standing maritime
tradition. Later they were illuminated by candlelight and hung over the
main street as symbols of Christmas. The earliest known instance of such
dates back to the early 1900's.

Now
these magic symbols are enjoyed by people all over the world on a daily
basis. These environmentally friendly handcrafted one of a kind symbols
are made from only natural materials keeping with hundreds of years of
tradition. Let the light of Faith, Hope and Love shine in your home.
